Goodday, I am writing this mail with tears, sadness and pains. I know it will come to you as a surprise since we haven’t known or come across each other before considering the fact that I sourced your email contact through the Internet in search of trusted person who can assist me.
I am Miss Anok John Garang 24 years old female from the Republic of Sudan, the Daughter of Late Dr. John Garang. Before my late father’s death in Uganda on 31st of July 2005, was vice president and former rebel leader of Sudan and was kill by Sudan President Omar al Bashir in helicopter crash. You can read more about my father in the link below. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/2134220.stm.
I am constrained to contact you because of the maltreatment which I am receiving from my step mother. She planned to take away all my late father’s treasury and properties from me since the unexpected death of my beloved Father. Meanwhile I wanted to travel to Europe, but she hide away my international passport and other valuable documents. Luckily she did not discover where I kept my father’s File which contained important documents. Now I am presently staying in the Mission in Burkina Faso. I am seeking for long term relationship and investment assistance. My father of blessed memory deposited the sum of US$10.5 Million in one bank in Burkina Faso with my name as the next of kin. I had contacted the Bank to clear the deposit but the Branch Manager told me that being a refugee, my status according to the local law does not authorize me to carry out the operation. However, he advised me to provide a trustee who will stand on my behalf. I had wanted to inform my stepmother about this deposit but I am afraid that she will not offer me anything after the release of the money.
Therefore, I decide to seek for your help in transferring the money into your bank account while I will relocate to your country and settle down with you. As you indicated your interest to help me I will give you the account number and the contact of the bank where my late beloved father deposited the money with my name as the next of kin. It is my intention to compensate you with 20% of the total money for your assistance and the balance shall be my investment in any profitable venture which you will recommend to me as have no any idea about foreign investment. Please all communications should be through this email address only for confidential purposes.
Thanking you a lot in anticipation of your quick response. I will send you details in my next email for you to know me well.
Despite the fact that my post on Social Networkouts went largely ignored, I’ve decided to go ahead to something about it anyway. The American Heart Association is sponsoring National Start Walking Day on April 8th. All they’re asking for is 30 minutes of walking from you that day. Why 30 minutes?
Taking just 10 minutes three times a day to walk will help you live longer. In fact, studies show that just one hour of vigorous exercise will increase your life expectancy by two hours. It makes sense to walk more and eat well — to live longer. (AHA)
So we are going to meet at Echo Park at 6:30pm and walk the perimeter of the park. That way even those who can’t make it until 7pm will still be able to get some walk time in with the group. Runners are encouraged too. Everyone who participates will get a sticker.
Where to go:
We will meet at the entrance to the park at the corner of Glendale Blvd. and Park Ave., just south of Sunset Ave. We will be walking the sidewalk around the park, so meet up with us at any point. .
Please click through as this shows you the start point for our meetup.
What to bring:
Comfortable walking/running shoes
Water or sports drink
Healthy snack
Towel
Happy attitude
I am open to any other suggestions you may have.
Please RSVP at Upcoming so that I’ll be sure to have enough stickers. Tell your friends & family and please share this post with anyone you know in LA.
Check back here as I post videos and other health tips leading up to the big day. ?See you at the park!
I know I still need to write about the Spring ArtNight Pasadena we attended on Friday. But before I delve into that, here’s a photo of the kids at Pasadena City Hall.
Every time I go through my garden photos I am amazed at how much it’s changed in the past 2 years. I see plants that gave me joy and have died. Plants that I forgot I even bought! I can see what I’ve changed around and there’s a lot of that. I also see the mistakes I made, some plantings of regret, now that things have grown fuller.

On of the coolest things about being a parent is being able to rediscover things as you share them with your kid. I wonder if this is something unique to my generation as my parents did not actively share things with us as kids. But one thing they passed down was a love of great music. I listen to music everyday, I was a DJ & worked at a radio station because I loved music so much. This in addition to singing and playing the flute. My husband also was a DJ and loves music maybe a little bit more than I do.
When our daughter was born there was always music blasting. We weren’t the type of parents who kept the house quiet just because the baby was sleeping. She’d dance and play with the various instruments we have. We have videos of her singing and banging away on Grandma’s piano when she was a toddler. After we had the boy, our trio became a quartet and more musical fun was had. The boy likes to rock and both kids will dance to anything.
We’ve urged this along by taking to the LACMAs Friday Night Jazz series and their Latin Sounds series. We go to street fairs and festivals where they are exposed to music from all over the world. All of this in addition to our vast music collection on vinyl and CD, not to mention our mp3s and the use of sites like Pandora or Last.fm.
Where we fall short is popular music. See, our kids were raised mainly on old funk & soul, reggae and rocksteady, jazz & blues. Occasionally they’ll hear daddy play some Iron Maiden or I’ll put on Music Choice’s 80s station, otherwise they’re not exposed to pop music. A couple of years ago I had realized this and tried to rectify it. I played my kids some old Michael Jackson songs which they both loved. My daughter told me that the Go-Gos were her favorite girl band in all the world after hearing 2 songs by them.
My daughter who knows more bhangra than rock came home one day telling me she’s a punk rocker. They were listening to punk music in the car. Indeed, both kids can mosh & pogo like nobody’s business when they hear a punk song come on. Recently, my husband introduced the kids to the Beatles. In 2 weeks, the girl now recognizes their music. Last night, the kids heard ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ and we had fun dancing along to it in the car.
I’m cherishing these moments because I know that as she gets older, she’ll want to listen to what her peers listen to. I’ll be forced to endure bad pop, horrible R&B/rap medleys and bland rock. My only wish is that through the music we’ve shared with her, she’ll be able to separate the wheat from the chaff.

I’ve been so wrapped up in my problems that haven’t taken the time to, well, smell the roses. My garden is indicating spring is here and I missed it. For me, few things are more exciting and wonderful than watching the buds on plants swell to just the point before they open. The other day I noticed that there are actual leaves on my grape plants. Today I saw not only 3″ buds on the wisteria ready to bloom, but 3 of them have already opened!
On Sunday, I thought it would be nice to let the kids get some pictures of LA. The kids were so excited at the prospect, especially since I hooked them up with my old camera cases. Alton got to used Ilia’s old camera and Ilia was given our Samsung to use.
It was a nice day to walk around Chinatown; not too hot nor crowded. The clouds billowing over the skyscrapers downtown caught their attention as much as the red lanterns swaying in the wind. The moment we got out of the car I remembered that I left the xD card for my camera at home.
The kids have always loved Chinatown, but since this was their photowalk, they were calling the shots. The things that fascinated them were just as interesting as the things they walked on by. One shop had several small pillows in the shape of various animals or cartoon charachters. The kids were immediate drawn to them, squishing and hugging whatever pillows were in their reach. But they did not take photos of them. Instead, Ilia focused on the rooflines of the pagoda-like buildings or colorful scrolls hanging in a shop. Alton, took a lot of pictured of people’s feet and the sky, which we found greatly hilarious. He’s so used to see us go down on one knee to take his photo that he thinks that’s how you take photos.
The only downside of the day was when we got home and realized that not only did most of the 121 pictures Ilia and I took on the Samsung were corrupted, but the 13 or so did turn out find can not be accessed. We could harp on that or we revel in the fact that 2.64 miles of walking Chinatown gave the kids a little better insight on that section of LA.
I am a political junkie and gadget freak. My time in Los Angeles is spent taking photos of gardens or plodding in mine. I enjoy good food, good conversation and writing biographies like I'm looking for a date. I have a lot of passions that manage to spill out on these pages. Just don't ever call me a 'mommy blogger'.
