Keith Olbermann Spits Madfire

I’m not usually big on Olbermann’s Special Comments, but sometimes there are really brilliant ones. This is a really brilliant one. The subject is Sen. Clinton’s remarks then half-assed sorta apology for invoking RFKs assassination (for the 2nd time) as a reason to take it to June. This time, unlike her remarks from March which very few people seemed to have noticed, she got caught out, making them to the editorial board of the Argus Leader in South Dakota. An interview that was streamed live.

I don’t have anything to add. I’ve been saying Clinton should have dropped out of the race since the end of Feb. This is the cherry on top, that proves what I’ve been saying for the past 3 months, this woman is not fit for the job of President of the United States.

He’s not even dead

MSNBC is disgusting.  They just spent the last 3 hours eulogizing Sen. Ed Kennedy and he ain’t even dead yet.

Gross.

Chris Matthews is a tool

Why? Oh, only because on his show yesterday he actually asked Sen. Claire McCaskill:

OK. Let me ask you about how he — how’s he connect with regular people? Does he? Or does he only appeal to people who come from the African-American community and from the people who have college or advanced degrees?

You got that?

Black people are not “regular” according to Chris Matthews.

College-educated people are not “regular” according to Chris Matthews.

Chris Matthews just said that I am not a regular person.

I don’t get why MSNBC has racists on their shows. Does is make them money? If this ass was on any other channel, he’d make Olbermann’s Worst Person in the World list. Something tells me that Chris Matthews insulting a good chunk of the electorate isn’t going to get him suspended like David Shuster.

Keith Olbmerann’s Special Comment.

I just read Keith Olbermann’s Special Comment on Ferraro’s remarks. Some highlights:

And when this despicable statement — ugly in its overtones, laughable in its weak grip of facts, and moronic in the historical context — when it floats outward from the Clinton Campaign like a poison cloud, what do the advisors have their candidate do?

Do they have Senator Clinton herself compare the remark to Al Campanis talking on Nightline… on Jackie Robinson day… about how blacks lacked the necessities to become baseball executives, while she points out that Barock Obama has not gotten his 1600 delegates as part of some kind of Affirmative Action plan?
[snip]

No.
Somebody tells her that simply disagreeing with and rejecting the remarks is sufficient.
And she should then call, “regrettable”, words that should make any Democrat retch.
And that she should then try to twist them, first into some pox-on-both-your-houses plea to ’stick to the issues,’ and then to let her campaign manager try to bend them beyond all recognition, into Senator Obama’s fault.
And thus these advisers give Congresswoman Ferraro nearly a week in which to send Senator Clinton’s campaign back into the vocabulary… of David Duke.

“Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says let’s address reality and the problems we’re facing in this world, you’re accused of being racist, so you have to shut up.
“Racism works in two different directions. I really think they’re attacking me because I’m white.
“How’s that?”

And…

This, Senator Clinton, is your campaign, and it is your name.
Grab the reins back from whoever has led you to this precipice, before it is too late.
Voluntarily or inadvertently, you are still awash in this filth.
Your only reaction has been to disagree, reject, and to call it regrettable.
Her only reaction has been to brand herself as the victim, resign from your committee, and insist she will continue to speak.
Unless you say something definitive, Senator, the former Congresswoman is speaking with your approval.
You must remedy this.
And you must… reject… and denounce… Geraldine Ferraro.

Yay. Keith spoke up. Rockin’!

Yet, as I read this I got pissed. Not only does it echo my previous post, but this little rant is bullshit, in that the media is complicit. As I posted to the New Hole “blog”:

Now, if only the other chatterboxes at MSNBC could see this point. I get that you all are about ratings and this drama only bumps them, but there should be repercussions. Schuster says something stupid and he’s suspended for two weeks. Buchanan says something stupid/racist almost every other time he’s on the air and he hasn’t beensuspended.

I get indignation. I get this. Heck, I posted something similar on my own blog earlier today…but it’s a little hard to take when you watch the same channel and see that MSNBC/NBC/GE as a whole is involved in this charade. That the people who are supposed to be bringing us unfiltered facts are spinning for their own benefit.

I don’t expect this comment, like so many of my others, to be approved, while the racist/sexist/xenophobic comments of the smaller brained users are approved. Still, I want you all to see that there are people watching and listening. You’re not absolved from this disgusting political climate we dwell in. You, yourselves are also “awash in this filth”.

Then I moseyed on over to Booman Tribune where there’s a post on the comment. Still upset, I posted:

I just read the Special Comment. Yeah, it was good, blah, blah, blah…didn’t say anything I didn’t post on my own blog earlier to day. Still, I’m mad. At MSNBC. At the media in general. This is their doing.

I know there are bigots. Bigots know that with a 24 hr. new cycle and so many 24 hr. news stations, that their bullshit will get amplified, spun, dissected and misdirected. They know that in a month, these pundits will act as if the whole thing was just a misunderstanding and that attacking that person (especially if they’re white) will become out of bounds. That’s why someone like Ferraro feels she can speak that way. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear, some time in late April, their pundits picking up the ball and running away with it, while chastising anyone (especially if they’re black) who dares insults Ferraro.

This is such a steaming load, ya know…When the people of Pennsylvania vote…we’re going to hear about this again. But the facts will be so twisted, it will be back to CrazyLand on TV. If Obama loses whites by anything more than 30%, those same pundits will ask, “Are white voters tired of the Obama campaign injecting race into these contests? Is this a reaction to Ferraro being drummed off the Clinton campaign.” No one’s going to remember Olbermann’s fucking Special Comment. No one’s going respond with the facts. They’ll pretend that the Obama campaign called for Obama’s head and that Clinton graciously responded.

Bleeech.

Liza responded clearly with the reason why I was mad:

It pisses me off that it take a white guy on a cable news show for people like us to be vindicated, but if it is a black woman pointing the obvious, she is just being a divisive and ‘reverse racist’ bitch.

OMG…someone in the liberal blogosphere who gets it! My reply:

I’ve been called that…I’ve gotten the doe eyes, “What racism?”…it’s enough to make me puke. And yes:

It pisses me off that it take a white guy on a cable news show for people like us to be vindicated

That is precisely why I’m steamed. I’ve sat here looking at accepted racism in the liberal blogosphere, had these morons tell me that I’m “being overly-sensitive” or that “maybe the person is having a bad day” or any other such bullshit, but let some white guy on TV tell them that something has crossed a line and it’s like blinders falling off.

And now, all those racists Democrats, and there’s no pretending that they don’t exist, have cover thanks to Ferraro and Clinton. I don’t ever want to hear another Clinton supporter who defended Ferraro’s remarks whine about sexism, real or perceived.

But I’m even more disgusted by people like Tubbs-Jones, Rangel, and Jackson Lee who just sat there and did nothing, said nothing. They could have stood up publicly and said, “This is not right, nor acceptable.”

They said nothing.

I’m an utterly disgusted with Democrats today.

I am done. I wrote a letter to the DNC today about this.

I would like to register my disappointment in the ugly turn the Democratic party has taken these past few weeks. I dmit freely to being an Obama supporter, though Dodd was my first choice.

The only reason I turned to Obama after Iowa was because of the race-baiting tactics from the Clinton’s campaign between July 2007 and Jan. 4, 2008.

That entire time, the party leaders were silent. They stood by why a fellow Senator and Democrat used right-wing talking points, to denigrate a candidate. As a black female, as a Muslim woman, Sen. Clinton’s antics were something I expect from someone like George Allen or Trent Lott.

I had hoped that after news reports mentioned that Bill Clinton has been “talked to” about his Southern Strategy, that we had seen the last of the race-baiting from the Clinton’s. I was wrong.

Geraldine Ferraro’s comments from last month and these past few days were not only out of bounds as Democrats,
but also as a functioning member of society. It pains me that the party I was raised in accepts these sorts of remarks.

I’ve sat here for the past 3 days, wondering when a party leader would step in an speak up on behalf of the most loyal bloc of the Democratic party. There was nothing. I sat here the last day searching elected officials websites and local papers throughout this country, looking for something from some elected offical denouncing Ferraro’s remarks, chastising the Clinton’s for not taking a harder stance on her outdated and factually incorrect statements. The silence is deafening.

I receive a lot of requests for money from you guys. When I had money, I gave freely. I volunteer my time and energy to get Democrats elected. I make phone calls, I blog, I email. This is all going to stop as of today. Because today, I am not proud to call myself a Democrat. Today, I am ashamed, as a black person in the United States, to associate with a party where racist statements are simply “disagreed” with.

There’ll probably no more energy expended by me on behalf of the Democratic Party. I will continue to do what I can to get Sen. Obama in the White House. If the party decides to give the nomination to Clinton, then I will sit this year out. We Democrats are faced with the historic option of voting for a woman or a non-white male, come November. I’m unwilling to step into the gutter to vote for the former.

MSNBC: Tucker Carlson Canceled

smlostpedia.gifsmlostpedia.gifsmlostpedia.gifsmlostpedia.gifsmlostpedia.gifsmlostpedia.gifsmlostpedia.gif

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

It took “tooever”, but motherTucker is gone, daddy gone!

I just saw a post over at Booman Tribune and had to check it out for myself. He’s gone:

Insiders tell TVNewser Tucker Carlson’s 6pmET show Tucker is getting the axe, but Carlson stays on as a political contributor to all MSNBC shows at least through the 2008 election. The official announcement, expected tomorrow, will include details about who will replace Tucker at 6pmET as well as other political programming additions. Sources say the network is going to beef up its schedule with more NBC News talent.

MSNBC to Carlson:

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…Damn, that makes two shows that Carlson has had canceled and he’s like 12 years old.  I guess he gets to go home and work a gig on Fox.  They can’t even spell ’standards’ over there.  Carlson would fit right in.

I love the last line:  Sources say the network is going to beef up its schedule with more NBC News talent.  Because if there was any one major think Carlson lacked, it was talent.  Let’s hope that MSNBC/NBC/GE stops the trustafarian hires and actually puts someone on the air who knows what they’re talking about.

I hope that Rachel Maddow gets his spot.

MSNBC = Free Ads for Clinton Network

FirstRead has done it again. They’ve posted another Clinton ad with transcript. That makes for the 3rd one this week. Please note that they have not posted video or transcripts for Obama, Huckabee or McCain, even though ads for those three candidates are available on their sites and YouTube.

UPDATE:  FirstRead finally posted an Obama ad.   Go on over and see it.  It’s regarding Clinton’s desperate plea for more free publicity debates.  Hey, while you’re at it, why don’t you go on and see all the wonderfully racists comments MSNBC also approved. Color me shocked.

Now, all they have to do is just post Obama’s other two ads, and the ones from McCain and Huckabee then maybe they’ll make back some bits of your credibility.  Or maybe they  can just gush some more over their Valentine’s Day gifts from Clinton.

More MSNBC Clinton ass-kissing

Popped over to First Read and what do I see?  O,h just one of Clinton’s ads + transcript on the “blog”.  Yep.  In an effort to bend over backwards for the Clinton campaign, along with giving Clinton a free hour of air-time on Saturday night and doing everything possible these past 3 days to focus only on Clinton, MSNBC is now giving this one candidate free ads.  I suggested that all the other candidates whine and propose to “shun” MSNBC too, so they can also get free ads with transcript posted on First Read.

Ain’t democracy grand?

Now we’ll have to wonder how this plays with all those idiots out there who complain about how the Clinton’s are treated in the media.  I’m thinking if they didn’t use race-baiting tactics and…what’s the word?…oh…won something this weekend, then maybe, just maybe she’d have more positive press.  Let’s face it, when you lose most of the important states on Super Tuesday, make up some money woes to a) kill the press on your winning opponent and b) dupe your supporters into giving you money, then insert non-critical drama about your campaign manager knowing that too would kill the press on your opponents clean sweep of 5 races in 2 days and cap it all off with dismissing black voters AND activists as non-representative of voters, you’re kind of bound to get some bad press in there, seeing as how you’re creating it.

It’s just a shame that your supporters don’t see how much they’re being played.

Is it really sexist?

I was pointed to TalkLeft where this entry says that Obama said something sexist. Keep in mind that TalkLeft is a rabidly pro-Clinton blog now. Want to know they call sexism?

But the sexism and misogyny from the Media and yes, the Obama campaign, has gone largely unremarked. Here is one that has flown under the radar from Barack Obama himself:

Obama saved most of his criticisms for Bush, but he seemed to have Clinton in his sights when he said, “You challenge the status quo and suddenly the claws come out.”

(Emphasis supplied.) The report does not even note the sexism inherent in that statement. Nor did online communities. Jane Hamsher wondered about that and asked FDL readers what they thought. The results were similarly depressing.

I will be honest - I am disgusted today.

The claws come out.

The claws come out?

Sexist? Really?

As I posted at Booman Tribune this morning:

“The claws come out” is now sexist. This from the same group of people who said of all the Clinton’s race-baiting, “What? It’s entirely possible he was slinging crack in the hood. Duh. He’s black.” The same people who sat there through all of the racists smears of the Clinton campaign and just couldn’t figure out what black people were talking about. We were being “too sensitive” or “imagining insults”. Riiiight.

Oh damn, that’s funny to me.

The blog post was bad enough, but 230 comments of complete and total insanity just seals it. That was fucking hilarious.

I really don’t have much to add to that comment. Comments are closed now (shocker), but if you peruse the commenters you’ll notice something pretty interesting. The comments boiled down were: “I didn’t think of it that way, but now that you mentioned it, yeah, it’s totally sexist. The MSM is teh sux0r!!!11!”

The same people who didn’t think that HarveyMilk’s racist diary wasn’t racist. The same people who said that The Clinton’s racists smears on Obama were being imagined by black people, actually managed to see to sexism in a completely and totally non-sexist phrase.

Does this mean, “claw his/her way to the top” is now sexist? Is it sexist when one says, “to get his/her claws in him/her”? How about “to claw his/her way back from defeat”? Or “to fight tooth and claw”?

See where this is going? Yep, a straight path to StupidVille.

Now, speaking of sexism and stupidity…and hypocrisy, over at MSNBC, Dan Schuster got into some stuff by saying:

But doesn’t it seem like Chelsea’s sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?

The Clinton’s campaign was “livid” and:

SEATTLE - A distasteful comment about Chelsea Clinton by an MSNBC anchor could imperil Hillary Rodham Clinton’s participation in future presidential debates on the network, a Clinton spokesman said.

In a conference call with reporters, Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson on Friday excoriated MSNBC’s David Shuster for suggesting the Clinton campaign had “pimped out” 27-year old Chelsea by having her place phone calls to celebrities and Democratic Party “superdelegates” on her mother’s behalf.

I fully admit that Schuster crossed the line. What I find hilarious is the sheer hypocrisy not only in MSNBC suspending Schuster for that remark, but also in the Clinton’s campaigning actually having the nerve to say:

Wolfson pointed to what he called a pattern of tasteless comments by MSNBC anchors about the Clinton campaign.

A pattern of tasteless comments…hmmmm, I’m sure the Clinton’s campaign and certainly the former president never engaged in anything like that. Not at all. Oh wait…the liberal blogosphere people who can see sexism, told me that was all in my head. Actually, I was told that it was all Obama’s fault. A month after the comments were first made, based on an unverified supposed memo. (I should note that I am totally laughing at people who think that Michelle Malkin Taylor Marsh is a source, but I got a funny sense of humor.) So, forget I said anything.

Then there’s the hypocrisy from MSNBC. As dnA over at Jack and Jill Politics posted, Pat Buchanan had this to say 2 weeks ago:

“in South Central L.A. [Los Angeles]” and “in the prisons” as evidence that tensions between African Americans and Latinos would affect voting in the Democratic primary. Buchanan said: “I regret to say you are mistaken about the African American community and the Hispanics. South Central L.A., there is a turf war going on. There’s a war in the prisons.” Buchanan continued, “People who don’t understand that don’t understand America, I’m sorry to say.”

Go to Media Matters to watch that racist prick spew this.

Gee. I don’t remember…was Buchanan suspended for spouting this stuff?

No? Well, that’s not right…I’m sure the liberal blogosphere was just atwitter and besides themselves regarding Buchanan’s statement.

No?

I wish I could say that I’m surprised.

TSUNAMI TUESDAY: MSNBC

I’m watching MSNBCs prime time coverage and damn, Tim Russert looks like shit.  He looks like he’s either drunk, sick or just woke up from a nappy-poo.

Shorter Rudy: Old white guys only

From First Read:

Asked at a house party whether his cabinet would be made up an “old boys network” Giuliani said it was presumptuous to discuss who would be in his administration, and referenced a book on how Abraham Lincoln selected his political rivals for his cabinet.

“The cabinet would look like last night’s debate,” he said, before adding, “with one exception.”

Wouldn’t it have just been easier for him to say ‘yes’ instead of playing coy?

To read the post at First Read, they seem to think that the “with one exception” line is more important than the fact that Giuliani just said that women and minorities have no place in his cabinet.
