ELECTION ‘08: Obama wins Maine
So that’s 5 in a row. Though the Clinton campaign is using the Giuliani Election Strategy: Lose, Lose, Lose big and set your sights down the road. It worked for Guiliani.
From MSNBC:
AUGUSTA, Maine - Barack Obama defeated Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic Party’s Maine caucuses on Sunday, grabbing a majority of delegates as the state’s Democrats overlooked the snowy weather and turned out in heavy numbers for municipal gatherings.
With 70 percent of the participating precincts reporting, Obama had 57 percent of the vote, while Clinton had 42 percent.
I know that most of you didn’t click that link above, so I got a screen cap of what has been on MSNBCs page for the past 14 hours:
That’s right in a state with .8% black people, MSNBC found that one black person in Maine, who just happens to be African and runs that photo. I guess this means, the calm Mrs. Clinton down, beyond the 3 on-air apologies, the hour-long documentary on her, and the full acceptance of anything coming out of the campaign without challenging or questioning it, MSNBC has now picked up the Clinton’s race-baiting tactics (again).
At any rate, it wasn’t a stomping like yesterday’s races, but it shows that Clinton’s tears didn’t work in Maine either.
Candidate | Votes | % of votes | Delegates won |
Obama | 1,878 | 59% | 0 |
Clinton | 1,305 | 41% | 0 |
Uncommitted | 17 | 1% |
I must admit to being shocked about this. I just got home and wondered about the Maine caucuses. I thought for sure that Clinton has Maine locked up. I know the Clinton team thought they did too, just from the memos being sent out. Naturally, 5 losses in a row means heads are rolling.
The finaly totals are below.
Candidate | Votes | % of votes | Delegates won |
Obama | 2,079 | 59% | 0 |
Clinton | 1,396 | 40% | 0 |
Uncommitted | 18 | 1% |
