Geeking out for Lost

4 days…And I can’t get a stinkin’ countdown ticker here.  :(
But I am excited about the show starting.  I haven’t been this excited for a show to start ever–take that back, the 2nd (and final) season of Chappelle’s Show had me all atwitter and I still forgot to watch it.  I’m not a TV watcher, so the whole Lost thing was unfamiliar to me.   My husband started watching them back in Oct. and by the time he was in the middle of season 2, I got hooked.  So then I had to go back watch the whole first season, then I caught up with him.  We were watching like 4 episodes a night.  “Hey baby…wanna get Lost?” was our pickup line.  We couldn’t wait to dump the kids into bed so we could get our groove on watch TV.

Since finishing watching season 3, I’ve been somewhat obsessed with the show.  I’ve read every page on the Lostpedia to see what clues I missed out on or what I forgot.  I wonder out loud what season 4 will hold, my husband gets mad, “Don’t speculate, you ruin it when you speculate!”  Clearly, he forgets that most of my speculations were 100% wrong.  Still, I like reading the theories posted on line.  Some of them are so far out, some of eerily right on.

Tonight, my goal is to watch all the mobisodes released so far.  Lost:  Missing Pieces, I believe are all finished up. It would have been unbearable for me to have to wait each week for a 2 minute “episode”, so I’ve been saving them up for one 1/2 hour geekout.

My husband sent me a link, where the author talks about her 5 favorite episodes of Lost.  I don’t know if I have 5 favorite episodes, but I can definitely think of the top 5 moments some of which are listed in the link above:

The plane crash:  That was probably some of the best camerawork on TV ever.   Everything was absolutely perfect.  It’s exactly what I imagine a plane crash would be like…uh, with way more survivors.  Shannon screaming on the beach was awesome.  You that if you were in that situation, that would probably be your first response.  One of the best parts about that plane crash was how you were shown it from various characters POV throughout the series.

Exploding Dr. Arzt:  Holy shit on a stick!  We had to pause it and laugh for 10 minutes after that.  I think we rewound that like 5 times.  Pure comedy gold.

Finding out how Locke got paralyzed:  Another “oh shit!” moment.  That was up there with Ross & Rachel drama.

The map on the blast door:  That was another mind-blower.  Not just the first time we’re shown the map during the lockdown, but the subsequent episode where Kelvin is painting it on there.

The Village:  The first time we see the village of The Others–the real one, was a stunner.  It was so completely unexpected, yet totally expected that it just blew my mind.  When you realized that they can go “home”, it’s just changes the dynamic of the show with the Survivors.

Honorable mention:

Dharma Initiative Orientation videos

Mikhail, the Russian who wouldn’t die.   We kept singing  Rasputin by Boney M. when he showed up again.

Jan. 31st.  It’s going to be a TV watching day.  The last Democratic presidential debates before Tsunami Tuesday are that day (here in LA!) and then Lost.  Yeah.  I’m pretty excited.
