Media doing research?
As anyone who has been on the receiving end of news the last 10 - 15 years, it’s obvious that a good chunk of those who call themselves journalists are really just reporters. They report what a certain faction wants them to report, facts be damned. Even on opinion shows, facts are mere playthings to be swatted around by the 3 lucky blowhards of the hour. Even still, when a psychotic nutjob like Bill O’Reilly says something, no matter how far from the truth it is, the automatons of print, radio and TV “news” have been quick to repeat the lie, never really delving into the anatomy of the smear.
So it is interesting to note that after an article ran in the Christian Science Monitor, in which Romney (yet again) feels the need to “clarify” what he said (what he said isn’t important), that the “political researcher” gave an “update” to the end of the article on the author of the CSM piece. He informs us that the CSM journalist gave money to Democrats. I certainly hope that this becomes a standard at MSNBC, where we learn the political leanings of our media shapers. It would explain why the cable news channels picked Clinton and Guiliani as frontrunners before either of them announced. However, I’m thinking that as a “political researcher”, he should have probably dug a little deeper into Romney’s statements, since he is, ya know, the guy running for president. Or maybe it’s too much to ask that the people in the news be the focus of the news. After all, MSNBC is the site where, a good chunk of it’s front page coverage is devoted to TV shows.
