Stupid scales
So my scale at home puts me at one weight and the scale at the gym puts me at a considerably higher weight. According to the gym scale, I’ve lost 6.7 lbs in the last 8 days. According to my home scale, I haven’t lost any weight in the last 3.5 weeks.
Why do I bother weighing myself when I can see results? When I wear my yoga pants, the Continent of Dimples on right butt cheek are gone. I’m in 3 notches on my belt and I can fit 45% more of my pre-pregnancy clothes that I still own (though they’re all work clothes I wouldn’t wear any place else) without sucking in anything. My goal is to fit into the clothes I wore when I met Adrian. That’s when I was 150 lbs. and a size 8. And my friends thought I was using drugs because I was so skinny. Granted, I no longer own the clothes I wore back in ‘98, but still…
I’m not one of those types who keeps “skinny” clothes around. Closet space is at a premium here and while I don’t buy trendy clothes, I’ve never understood the practice of keeping clothes that will be out of style in 2 - 10 years. Which makes me realize why many people don’t lose weight or can’t afford to gain weight. Clothes cost money. Yes, it would be nice to be able to go on a huge shopping spree when I get to my ideal weight*, but the reality is that I’ll need to get clothes as I lose weight too. I could always get my current clothes altered, but it’s not like I’m going to take in a t-shirt, ya know?
*This is when I can walk into a Banana Republic and buy any trench coat (’cause you know they got some kickin’ coats) I want because it fits around both my chest AND my butt.
