Is the Carlin corpse-fucking done?
*Disclaimer*: I’m one of many people who never thought George Carlin was funny and who believed that he ruined Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure.
Now, honestly people…why is it that just about every political blog has been spammed with the 30 year old “comedy” bits that weren’t funny 30 years ago? I don’t get it. Carlin didn’t contribute anything to society, at least to the world I lived in, beyond obnoxious holier-than-thou types quoting him like he was a genius or something. And don’t act shocked he died. He was 71 years old. That’s a long time to annoy the hell out of me. Is Carlin another sad icon of “speaking truth to power” by desperate, sheltered and too-afraid-to-defend-themselves liberals who are going to put him on a pedestal like Hunter S. Thompson?
Please tell me because I’m ’bout ready to go upside some heads. What kills me the most are the atheists/anti-religionists are talking about how Carlin is part of some “comedy trinity” (among these types that includes Lenny Bruce and Andy Kaufmann (Y-A-W-N).
Yes.
Can the corpse-fucking end?
Now?
Please?

Forget the comics, what about Tim Russert? Good grief I thought they were going to declare a national holiday for him. Crikey, he was a talking head for crying out loud.

Totally onboard with that one, they way they were going on made Russer sound like he was a former president or contributed to society in some way. I can’t stand all of all this at all. Meanwhile, Cyd Charisse died and there was a nary a peep.

I only found out about Cyd from a fellow blogger. How sad is that? I guess MSM really is dead.
Hey check out Demeur’s latest blog entry, Random things.

Oh and what did they put on your blog page? An ad for George Carlin ringtones..Ahhhhhh!Think that’s why I won’t put ads at my place. They’d put something like contribute to John McCain ads and I’d go balastic.

I loved Carlin, but not for the political crap or the dirty words. It was for his common every day stuff like when he went to his grandmother’s and she always tried to feed him “garbage”. She’d say things like, “well, if you don’t eat it, I’ll just have to throw it away.” It was like he was channeling my grandmothers!! He even had this bit about buying a house to hold stuff. And then you need a bigger house cause you want more stuff and when you go on vacation, you have to pack and unpack your stuff…really, very funny. But he was also a libertarian and I didn’t find that side of him particularly funny or insightful. If I want funny insight, I can read Doonsbury or Tom Tomorrow. I certainly don’t need the preachy tone of a Carlin (although I do like the tone of Al Franken, but that’s a whinier tone thing, and again, I’m off track).
