inside the mind of an opinionated mama…

Sean Kingston sucks

I just need to get this out there. He’s a featured artist on Napster today, so I thought I’d give it a try. I read the overwrought School of Hard Knocks bio (jail time, boot camp, homeless, mom in jail) on the 17 year old rapper (?) and thought that (yet another) a fusion of dancehall and rap could actually be good. Well it isn’t. Kingston’s record sounds more like the karoake version of a song you don’t like. The lyrics are dumb. Even for a 17 year old, they’re excruciatingly dumb. The music is just sad; blantant samples of famous soul, reggae and dancehall songs that were pretty good in their own right, get tarnished by appearing with Kingston’s lyrics.

This is how lame Kingston’s record is: After hearing 30 seconds of the 5th song, I eagerly started searching for Stacy Q songs because they’re of a higher quality.
