What color bow should they get?
Wealthy Clinton supporters are at it again; using their money to buy the presidency. 12 Clinton supporters have decided to try to extort Speaker Nancy Pelosi in a letter:
We have been strong supporters of the DCCC. We therefore urge you to clarify your position on super-delegates and reflect in your comments a more open view to the optional independent actions of each of the delegates at the National Convention in August. We appreciate your activities in support of the Democratic Party and your leadership role in the Party and hope you will be responsive to some of your major enthusiastic supporters.
That’s just a chunk. The entire letter is in the link above to TPM. Here’s the list of people who’ve decided that because they give more money to the DCCC that they have more influence than you or me.:
- Marc Aronchick
- Clarence Avant
- Susie Tompkins Buell
- Sim Farar
- Robert L. Johnson
- Chris Korge
- Marc and Cathy Lasry
- Hassan Nemazee
- Alan and Susan Patricof
- JB Pritzker
- Amy Rao Lynn de Rothschild
- Haim Saban
- Bernard Schwartz
- Stanley S. Shuman
- Jay Snyder
- Maureen White
- Steven Rattner
Now, I’m not rich and never have been. I probably won’t ever be able to give $25,000 to the DCCC, let alone $250. Still, I’m unclear as to why their voices count more than my voice. I was under the assumption that this was the Democratic Party, that we were all equal. I get that they may get more access and if they’re helping the Democratic Party, I have no problem with that. What’s bothersome is that they’re more than willing to punish the entire Party for the sake of one candidate.
This isn’t an anomaly. This is the 3rd time this past two weeks that Clinton’s heavy donors have put pressure on the Democratic Party officials to rollover for Sen. Clinton. The first was on March 15th, when Clinton donors threatened the DNC with loss of cashflow (See LAT link above). This isn’t an anomaly. This is the 3rd time this past a week that Clinton’s heavy donors have put pressure on the Democratic Party officials to rollover for Sen. Clinton. The first was on March 15th, when Clinton donors threatened the DNC with loss of cashflow:
Mrs. Clinton won the primaries in both states, but the contests were not sanctioned by the party, neither candidate campaigned in the states and Mr. Obama did not even put his name on the ballot in Michigan.Pushing to seat the Florida delegates, at least one top Clinton fund-raiser, Paul Cejas, a Miami businessman who has given the Democratic National Committee $63,500 since 2003, has demanded Democratic officials return his 2007 contribution of $28,500, which they have agreed to do.
“If you’re not going to count my vote, I’m not going to give you my money,” said Mr. Cejas, who was the United States ambassador to Belgium from 1998 to 2001.
Christopher Korge, a Florida real estate developer who is another top fund-raiser for Mrs. Clinton, held an event last year in his home that brought in about $140,000 for the national party, which was set aside in a special account for the general election battle in Florida. But he told committee officials this week that if Florida’s delegate conundrum was not settled satisfactorily he would be asking for the money back.
“If we do not resolve this issue,” Mr. Korge said, “I think it’s safe to say there will be a request for a return of $140,000.”
The 2nd was the announcement that 10 Clinton donors had raised $12M to bankroll a revote in Michigan. Do you understand that? These people are so desperate to cash in on Clinton’s promises that they were willing to buy her votes.
Ten donors to Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign offered Wednesday to give Michigan $12 million to hold a rerun of its Democratic primary as she and rival Barack Obama traded sharp words over the proposed June 3 contest. With state lawmakers facing a deadline today for approval of the plan, Clinton made a quick stop Wednesday in Detroit, where she called on Obama to endorse the do-over election.
It’s bad enough that the Clinton’s have decided destroying the party was a better option than trying to act like humans for a few months, but this shows you their character. The fact that they are willing to get people to toss millions of dollars to buy an election says a lot about them.

This is completely unrelated, but a friend sent me info about DNA testing on newbornshttp://blacklistednews.com/view.asp?ID=5932My kids 14, so it’s unlikely that this happened to us, but I’m trying to find something out there on it. Especially considering that some of this info has been given to Homeland Sec! Have you heard anything about this?

Yes, I think my son’s DNA was harvested. In fact, I just packed away the paperwork from the hospital that had a small blurb on that. It was really shady the way they did it. Here I am, hours after delivering my first kid, still groggy from drugs and an administrator comes in all rainbows and smiles, “I just need you to sign this.” I told her to leave the papers and I’ll get around to it when I’m clearheaded. She didn’t like that and pushed, I called for the nurse and the admin. backed off saying she’d come back later. 45 min. later another guy came in with papers. “Are you fucking shitting me? Get out!” He ran away fast. Then they sent in a black lady.
She said something like, “I understand there’s some confusion about signing these papers.” Nope, no confusion, I’m trying to get some damn sleep. After going back and forth, she finally left the papers with me. 20 min. after that she and another black lady were back to see if I signed them. Me, being me, decided to be spiteful and I read each point on all 8 papers front and back. I asked them questions and just about every one. When they couldn’t answer me to my satisfaction, I refused to initial. One of them was the state DNA testing thing. It was worded weirdly and there was actually 5 blurbs on the paper that gave them permission to do it.
All during that time, they were super pissy with me and two older men came in during this and stood by the door. After I initialled what I wanted to initial, I took pictures of all the pages, which really pissed them off. One of the older men started in,”This is just standard paperwork.” line and I said something like, “You’re asking me hours after giving birth, when I’m 1) drug addled and 2) emotionally wound up, to sign 8 pages of legalese without reading it? Seriously?” The rest of the time I was there, they tried to get me to sign other papers that gave them the right to use her blood and whatever for science.
Now, with my son, since I was on Medi-Cal, I didn’t even have the option. I even mentioned that to the hospital administrator that the paperwork I had to sign for him was different and he let it slip that this was Medi-Cal paperwork. After a little digging it seems that just by accepting Medi-Cal, you give up a ton of basic rights and that was one of them.

This DNA testing thing scares the crap out of me and the idea that you give up your rights if you use any kind of State assistance makes me even more infuriated. Reminds me of the post on Kos (I know, I still post over there but I don’t get many hits from them) by the NY civil liberties union about NY state not being able to provide basic assistance to indigent persons accused of a crime. They talked about this homeless guy who had to file his own motions despite no legal training because he’d sat in jail for 7mths for being accused of steeling copper pipes from an abandoned building.I’ve kind of tuned out of the race right now. I’m hyper focused on American Axle and the strike, not the 5% chance that Hillary has (I’m being generous) or her taking everyone down with her sinking ship. Clearly, she has issues. I mean, I can’t even say she “means well” and usually, I use that as an insult!I want her off the National stage. I want to talk now about issues that affect every American, employment, income, benefits, shelter, food, etc… I know, it’s a pipe dream, huh?
