Running: The Brentwood Run, May 25th

This morning, I checked my email and found I got a gift (thank you Ruth!) and now I’m able to run the Brentwood Run on May 25th. Proceeds from this race will go to the Brentwood YMCA

Pictures from the Santa Monica Classic are up. You can see my photos here. It’s funny to me to see that I’m smiling in all of them. I certainly don’t remember smiling that day.

Most of you know that I come from a military family and I’m an Army brat. I have relatives who’ve served in all 5 branches of the United States Armed Forces.

Letting go: A photoblog

The neighbors gave the little girl a heart-shaped balloon for Valentine’s Day.   The next morning, she decided to make a wish.  Which means–for some odd reason–in our neighborhood, letting the balloon go.

The little boy who has been chasing the balloon around the house, noticed something in the sky.

“Oh no!  Mama, the balloon!”

“It’s up there!”, he yelled.  He jumped up and down to reach it.  “I get it!”  He tried, but his legs were too short, his arms not quite long enough.

The balloon was caught in the thermals and floated over the City of Angels.  It’s barely visible.

“It’s gone! It’s gone, Mama!”, cried the little boy, as he looks at the dwindling heart shape in the sky.

But the dirt is still here.

365 Days: Day 16 – Curtains are hung!

Day 16 – Curtains are hung!, originally uploaded by fabooj.

This is how I spent most of my Thanksgiving. I rearranged the kid’s bedroom and finally hung up curtains on their windows! The previous owners left up the blinds and me being lazy, left them up too. So almost a year after we bought the house, the curtains have been hung. It’s amazing how much it alters their room. It’s so much more cheerful in there. Since the blinds were brown, the room isn’t as dark as it was before. I should admit that I did keep the blinds up.
