I've been out of town, but just watched the SC at MSNBC's site..and then came here because I wanted to see if the same thought had crossed YOUR mind too - and it did. And I am a white woman and I thought to myself "I am *thrilled* Keith is doing this, and I agree with everything he is saying since it is what I have been thinking about her campaign for awhile now, BUT..why is it somehow going to carry more weight that Keith is saying this? Just because he is a white man? Why can't the same statements from a black man or woman have as much impact?"
And yes, where ARE the black leaders?
And you know what you taught me in your previous post? I had never thought of how they always talk to a black person to get the 'black' perspective on issues, but of course they never do that with any other race!! Great example with the Vtech shooting. Thanks for keeping my eyes open wide.

I've been very disappointed in Stephanie Tubbs Jones as well. I probably am more so dissappointed because I've actually canvassed for her when she ran for Stokes old seat (he sure was a character). I'd much rather have George Frobes in that Cleveland Rep seat, but he left politics long ago when he lost to Mike White (BTW, he won because he courted the I'm afraid of Black men vote in Cleveland on the West side...they were afraid of Forbes who was often compared to Marion Barry, (my former councilmember and someone I've voted for, proudly)).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_L._Forbes

My favorite recent insane comment from the former judge and prosecutor and 4 term Rep is this gem:

http://matthewyglesias.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/02/the_clothing_of_his_country.php

She seems to be under the impression that Senator Obama is a naturalized citizen. That would have precluded him from running for President, but hey, that's splitting hairs, she didn't even know which country his father was from (i.e., Kenya not Somalia).

Faboo, thanks for venting for me. It's almost like I had this stream of thought and you made sense out of it. Makes me feel like I'm not a loon. I'm not the only one out there feeling like this.
